Over the last decade, the use of EMR has become common, but its impact on medical litigation is in its infancy. Emerging issues regarding e-discovery, metadata, audit trails are beginning to be addressed by the courts. These issues go far beyond the outcome of any one particular case; they can potentially change the practice of medicine itself. This program will explore emerging issues and discuss policy and litigation strategies that healthcare institutions – and the attorneys who represent them – might consider to enhance care and mitigate risk.
