The defense attorney may end up settling a case for a higher amount by not hiring a life care planner to examine the plaintiff’s life care plan. Plaintiff attorneys hire life care planners to help them further define the damages in catastrophic injury cases. Sometimes plaintiff life care planners do not conduct appropriate assessments and opine on services they are not qualified to talk about. An opposing life care planner can find those issues, and write a rebuttal plan, or simply help the defense attorney critique the plan and prepare for deposing the plaintiff life care planner.
